The second “episode” to my series. Check it out!
A lot of people deal with this… self image issues. Growing up is hard, actually going through life in general is difficult. We live in constant fear of how others perceive us. Well at least majority of the population does. Why though? Who cares how others see us. All that matters is our own individual opinion and if we are happy with ourselves. Yet a lot of us still struggle on how we look in the morning before stepping out into the harsh, cruel world which is reality. (I might be just a little bit dramatic but it’s still tough).
I personally struggle with this. Sure you can blame it on being a teenager but I know just as many adults who struggle with this as well. Even when I was younger I was self-conscious about myself. In Kindergarten I wanted long straight black hair rather than my blonde beach waves. Why though? We grow up in a society and are told we have to look a certain way to be “beautiful”. I don’t quite remember why I wanted straight black hair but I think it’s because all my friends had straight black hair and I wanted to fit in. I would literally cry for hours wanting straight black hair to my parents.
I remember when I was in either 5th or 6th grade I saw a commercial about this foundation for smooth flawless skin. The before picture was a girl with freckles and the after picture was the same girl without freckles. I don’t remember exactly what they were saying but I remembered the key words being “flaw” and “imperfection”. After that I only saw my freckles as imperfect and hated them.
I feel like the saying “beauty is pain” can be interpreted in many ways. Basically you have to go through pain in order to achieve it. Whether it’s emotional or physical. Honestly, that’s so not true. The prettiest you is the real you. Luckily, I learned this earlier than a lot of people do and it has made my life so much better. It was hard to get here though.
What really bothered me was mirrors, which is the only way you can see yourself. (Besides selfie cameras on your phone). A lot of people only see the negative in the mirror and I did too. I had to train myself to see the positive. I challenge you to look at yourself in the mirror and say one thing you love about yourself everyday. It could be a physical or characteristic trait. Just anything about you. You will need a lot of patience and determination but I swear after a while it will get easier. I still do it to boost up my confidence before walking out into the world where people judge you for any little thing you do.
It would be a lie to say people don’t judge you. People will do it no matter what. Their judgments don’t matter though. You just need to keep on being you. You do you. I hope this helped anyone out their struggling with this. Just know that you’re not the only one who deals with insecurities, everyone has them. You are beautiful inside and out and I hope you know that. Till next time… Callie out.
Every Tumblr girl’s favorite thing. You know how on tumblr pretty much all the pictures are of beds, bedrooms, girls with over-sized sweaters and long socks, etc, etc. Well I decided to have one of those days. I mean being lazy and aesthetic all at once? Yes please.
Don’t get me wrong, I love adventures. But sometimes it’s nice to just relax in your room. You know, have some “me-time”. Life can be stressful at times and how I like to deal with stress is well… I have two different ways.
One way is to go to and explore. Go on an adventure, and just forget about reality. Let the adrenaline flush out your mind. Make some memories. Have fun with friends, the list goes on. It’s great to not only expand your mind but also to have great stories to tell.
The second way is to relax. Stay in your safe haven (your room). Watch some netflix, read a book, draw, eat, edit pictures, whatever you want. Now the one thing you need to be careful of is how much you do this. You can’t do this forever or you will just feel gross. But every once in a while, For sure.
Now this may just be me but I have ocd tendencies. So my room has to be clean. Or just no clutter. I just feel gross if I don’t so I make sure to keep my room clean. I also like to decorate my room with things that inspire me and make me smile. I actually have a sign wall with well… signs with inspiring, funny quotes. I like to look at them when I’m feeling down. It’s a nice reminder plus very aesthetic.
I also love my room because they’re are lots of windows so I can still have fresh air. Another thing I like to have in my room is fresh flowers. They liven up the room and I love looking at them. Right now it’s just starting to become spring so the flowers in my room are starting to bud.
Being the photographer I am. I usually like to look at the pictures I’ve taken on my adventures and edit them. Especially with pictures from photo shoots with friends.
And Lazy days don’t just have to be with yourself. I love being lazy with company. Have some friends over and watch movies, chat, etc.
This is a little different then what I usually do but I hope you like it. Comment down below what your favorite movie to watch on lazy days. Mine is probably Kingsmen because I mean Eggsy. (You’ll only get that if you’ve seen the movie). Thank you all for reading! Callie out.
Hey everyone. This week I went on a little road trip to the middle of nowhere for my great grandmother’s eighty fifth birthday. The place I went was not very exciting but it was nice to see family again. Besides, everywhere I go is an adventure. So lets get into it.
To be honest this road trip wasn’t very exciting compared to others. However, what I thought was interesting was how even though I stayed in Cali the surroundings completely changed. That’s one of the reasons why I love Cali. You go from the beach to mountains. Even staying in my hometown Santa Barbara the surroundings completely change.
We went from a beautiful sparkling ocean with a nice sandy beach. The waves in a perfect motion, rising up and crashing down causing this beautiful melody that instantly relaxes your muscles. The sand tickling your toes. If you can’t tell already I absolutely love the beach. I mean I’ve lived by it my entire life.
Of course, I took a nap. I mean sleeping is the best way to travel. Especially with family. Trust me. Don’t get me wrong I love my family but they drive me crazy. Best thing to do is sleep. Or if you can’t sleep, pretend to.
When I woke up all of a sudden I was in the desert. I swear traveling through California is like traveling through time. The mountains were a greenish-brown color (wow I’m great at describing things). The littlest things amazed me such as dirt. I know right.. dirt. It was a much more rusty color than my hometown which has more of a pale brown. Of course there was also the obvious of dryer, hotter weather. Shoutout to people who live in the desert, I could never do that.
Earlier I mentioned a tip of mine to get through a long road trip with yo fam. Sleep. However if you can’t sleep another way to tune out your family is *drum roll please. Music. Just wire in and boom. You have a soundtrack to your life. Now I don’t know about you but I always go through phases of music genres. I just got out of a hip hop phase and I’m currently in an indie dance/pop phase (thanks to Halsey). My favorite song right now is Gold by Kiiara (not sponsored). If you want to listen to some of my favs right now check out my playlist on soundcloud. And no I’m not promoting my mixtape.
That pretty much sums up my road trip adventure. Next week I’m thinking of doing a story time post. I have an idea of each month posting a memorable/funny moment in my life. Comment down below what you think! Also feel free to hit me up on my instagram @lifeofacalliegirl. Till next week… Callie out.
This week’s post is about a typical night in Cali (as you can probably tell from the title). Well this is at least the typical night for me and my friends. Anyways, let’s get to it.
So, my friends and I carpooled to the beach together cuz we like to help the earth like that. Once we were there we got out our cameras and just started having a good time. It was really cold (which means not cold at all because Californians are big babies), so I was wearing jeans and a cardigan. My look was more Cali than tumblr that day.
I was with my fam, Alegra and Kinsey, and we all just had fun taking pictures of each other and the sunset. Trading off cameras and thinking of cool camera angles. While we were doing this so many people were judging us. Why? I have no idea. We were just three girls having fun and being creative together. But you know, haters gonna hate.
Now, me being the smart person I am, I decided to climb this rock thing to get a good pic of the horizon. *sigh* the things photographers do for good camera shots. Where was I? Oh yeah. So I was climbing this rock and my foot slipped and I almost fell. That’s not as interesting of a story as I thought it would be…
After it was too dark to take pictures, the three stooges walked up to a Japanese restaurant called Ichiban (If you’re in the Santa Barbara area you should definetly give it a try). I didn’t get any pictures of my meal (I’m not a food blogger okay) but I had some Tempura Soba. Not gonna lie it was pretty good.
After dinner we went for a late night cvs run for some dessert, then went back to Kinz’s house. There we had our last photoshoot of the day which is where we came up with the great idea of drawing on ourselves with sharpie. I’m still trying to get it off four days later. TBH, it was worth it since we got some really cool shots.
Well, that concludes my typical night in Cali. Comment down below what you’re typical night looks like. See ya… Oh real quick before you go, I got an ig so hit me up @lifeofacalliegirl for weekly updates and what not. Till next week, peace.
Hey everyone! So today I will be showing you an awesome mug brownie recipe that’s really easy and fast to make. All you need is a mug, a microwave, and the following ingredients.
2 tablespoons of butter, melted
2 tablespoons of water
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
4 tablespoons of flour
4 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of cacao powder
a dash of salt
And a spoon to mix everything with
I don’t know if you’ve heard of mug brownies but their pretty popular right now. If cooking even has trends… Does it? Anyways BuzzFeed even had an article about them so they must be good. And the faster and easier the better! Am I right? So keep reading if you want to learn how to make this trendy dessert.
First, you’re going to melt 2 tablespoons of butter. I do this first so I can just use the same mug. Also because I hate doing dishes. It only took about 30 seconds to melt the butter for me but all microwaves are different so do it for however long it takes to get the butter melted completely.
Once you have the butter melted completely, add the 2 tablespoons of water and 1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla extract. If you like your brownie more gooey add 3 tablespoons of water. Now, mix all the ingredients you’ve used so far together.
Now we’ll move on to dry ingredients. Add 4 tablespoons of flour, 4 tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of cacao powder, and a dash of salt. Now is it just me or whenever you read “cacao” you pronounce it like (ka-cow). It’s probably just me. After you’ve added these ingredients, mix it all together.
After you mix it all together, Just put it in the microwave for a minute. (Once again all microwaves are different so do it for however long it takes).
Once, it’s done done you can add powdered sugar or whip cream on top. And the finishing product should look like this.
This recipe is fast and easy. Normal brownies are good too but take so long to bake. And let’s face it, ain’t nobody got time for that. Now try this recipe out for yourself and comment down below what you think!
So this week’s blog is going to be about my life on an Arizonian dude ranch. Don’t get me wrong I love California but there’s nothing like being out away from civilization… it’s… peaceful. Don’t worry though, I’m going back to Cali. Cali. Cali. Soon. So back to what I was saying… or uh.. typing. I love coming out here in the desert. It’s a nice break from cars, traffic, school, people. Even though it’s a break, it’s not quite relaxing either. An average day for me looks like this. I wake up around 7:30, eat breakfast, ride all morning, lunch break, ride again in the afternoon, go cattle penning in the late afternoon, and then dinner and poker. Depending on your level (beginner, intermediate, etc.) you can take different kinds of rides. Being the professional I am *flips hair back sarcastically* I like to take fast rides which is basically riding off into the sunset on your trusty steed. Adrenaline just kicks in and you feel the wind in your face. A great way to wake up and smell the roses if you ask me. Or horse poop in this case. Sometimes I like to take things slow and go for a nice ride up the mountain. The view is AMAZING.
In the late afternoon, I usually go cattle pinning. Cattle penning is a rodeo event where you and you’re team try to herd 3 calves into a pen in the least amount of time as possible. Easier said then done. Some people think rodeo events harm animals. Honestly it depends on the ranch but by no means are any animals harmed where I am. And in cattle penning you don’t even touch the calves so there’s no way you can harm them.
At the end of the day I have a delicious steak dinner and a relaxing game of poker. The stereotypical cowgirl/boy lifestyle.
For me this lifestyle I only have for about a week once a year but a lot of people live like this daily. I have to give them credit, it’s a lot of work caring for the animals and keeping the ranch running. If you love horses, adventure, or both, I highly suggest you try this. If you’re interested in this go check out this website. The White Stallion Ranch is a guest ranch that allows you to experience the cowboy/girl life in a relaxing manner. It’s also family friendly if you want the whole squad there. Hope you enjoy.
